چکیده

Transmission of a few keV impact energy Ne ions through capillaries in anodic alumina membranes has been studied with different ion counting methods using an energy dispersive electrostatic spectrometer, a multichannel plate (MCP) array and sensitive current-measurement. In the present work, we focus our attention to the measurements with the MCP array. The alumina capillaries were prepared by electrochemical oxidation of aluminium foils. For the present experiments guiding of 3–6 keV Ne ions has been studied in two samples with capillary diameter of about 140 nm and 260 nm and with capillary length of about 15 lm. At these energies, the ions have been efficiently guided by the capillaries up to few degrees tilt angle. In this work, we compare the results obtained by the energy dispersive spectrometer to those studied by the MCP array. 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Guided transmission of Ne7+ ions through nanocapillaries in polymers: Scaling laws for higher projectile energies

In past few years, the guiding of highly charged ions through capillaries of mesoscopic dimensions has received great attention [1,2]. Various studies of the guiding phenomena have been performed with capillaries in highly insulating polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers [3]. For capillaries tilted with respect to the incidentbeam direction, the ion guiding involves the deposition of positi...

Charging and discharging of nano-capillaries during ion- guiding of multiply charged projectiles

Slow multiply charged ions are efficiently guided through nano-capillaries with large aspect ratio in polyethylene terephthalate (PET), due to self-organized charging of the inner capillary walls which prevents close collisions with the surface. In order to gain more insight into this interesting phenomenon we have measured the 2-D scattering distribution of transmitted ions during the charge-u...

Flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Cd(II), Zn(II) and Ag(I) in different matrixes after solid phase extraction on sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-coated alumina as their 2,3 Di Hydro 2,3 para tolyl Qinazoline (1 H)- 4 one (DPTQO)

A sensitive and selective solid phase extraction procedure for the determination of traces of Cd(II),Zn(II) and Ag(I) ions has been developed. An alumina-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) coated on with2,3 Di Hydro 2,3 para tolyl Qinazoline (1 H)- 4 one (DPTQO). The influences of the analyticalparameters including pH and sample volume were investigated. Common coexisting ions did notinterfere on the...

Ideally ordered 10 nm channel arrays grown by anodization of focused-ion-beam patterned aluminum

Arrays of ideally ordered alumina nanochannels with unprecedented ,10 nm pore size, 40–50 nm interpore spacing, and improved channel uniformity have been fabricated by anodizing an aluminum substrate with a guiding pattern on its surface. The pattern is an array of hexagonally close-packed concaves fabricated by focused ion beam direct sputtering; and its lattice constant is carefully matched t...

Elimination of Copper (II) Ions from Aqueous Solution by the using of gamma alumina nanoparticles

heavy metals, as gamma alumina nanoparticles pollutants, in water resources. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the removal of copper (II) ions from aqueous solutions using gamma alumina nanoparticles as a adsorbent. Batch adsorption studies carried out to study various parameters included contact time, initial concentration of copper (II) ions, pH, and gamma alumina nanoparti...
